The Northeast Conference almost replicated the craziness we saw Tuesday, but the higher seeded teams came storming back. (1) Central Connecticut State was down almost double digits late to (8) St. Francis PA, and (2) Merrimack was battling with (7) LIU, but both pulled it out late. With 26 out of 30 picks on both of those teams, it would have been a repeat of Tuesday if both top seeds lost.
The pool pick that did not make it out alive was (5) Fairleigh Dickinson, as they were absolutely blown out by (4) Le Moyne Dolphins. Last year FDU was knocking off top seeded Purdue in the big dance, but today they couldn't beat the Dolphins.
Over in the Ohio Valley (5) Tennessee State struggled against (8) Southern Indiana, but the higher seed eventually pulled it out late and won by a comfortable margin. I only mention this game since we have one person in our pool riding Tennessee State.
Team TNT is the last undefeated person standing in our pool, having not suffered a loss yet. It's wild that we're only 3 days in and already 29 out of 30 people have at least 1 loss, some with 2 losses. Here is the link to the current standings with the Fairleigh Dickinson loss now factored in. Look for a blog entry early tomorrow morning previewing Thursday's action, we have a lot going on!
