We're going to lead with the Northeast Conference since all 8 teams will be playing today, everyone has action, and making nobody in the pool is safe. We have an interesting distribution of picks with (2) Merrimack being the most popular with 43% of picks, followed by (1) Central Connecticut State at about 40% of our selections, and 4 people on (5) Fairleigh Dickinson. (2) Central Connecticut State is the predicted winner, with a 42% chance of cutting down the nets. We can all escape tonight without a loss in this conference, but after the last 2 days I wouldn't count on it. Also, unless you're Dan Sohler and have an obscure subscription to NEC Front Row, these games are nowhere to be found on TV.
Next, we'll preview tonight's action in the Ohio Valley, where once again Galpin is at risk of being ahead of the curve with a loss. We only have 2 games in first round action tonight, but Galpin is on (5) Tennessee State. Both games are available on ESPN+ starting out with (5) Tennessee State vs. (8) Southern Indiana, followed by (6) SIU Edwardsville taking on (7) Eastern Illinois.
The Big South also tips off tonight, but it is first round action with only 1 game, and no impact to our pool. Have fun betting on (8) SC Upstate vs. (9) Radford since it will be on ESPN+. We'll use this extra space to cover a few pool related items. As of today, we have 7 conference tournaments in progress, 25 that have not yet started, and 0 that are complete. The indicator is towards the bottom of the spreadsheet near the West Coast Conference. Here is the link to the current standings, however we have not had any changes since the last blog post.
Additionally, the payouts are posted if you scroll all the way to the right on the standings sheet. With 29 paid entries, we have a total pot of $1,450. $950 is allocated for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, while $500 is split between the 4 bonus categories. For those that have not yet paid, let's get that wrapped up by this upcoming Sunday.
